Instagram is continuing to start 2022 strong with another update that they have quietly started testing!
This new option would allow users to rearrange their profile grid, organizing previous posts into any order they like.
Available via the profile settings, the option is called “Edit Grid” and enables you to move previous posts in your profile gallery however you choose, regardless of when they were posted.
For content creators, this update offers a unique opportunity to showcase specific posts on your profile that you want visitors to see first.
On this same trend, Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri recently hinted at a possible “Pinned Post” option, similar to the one TikTok recently introduced, which would allow Instagram users to “pin” or select certain posts they want to feature at the top of their grid.
While this option is still in just the testing phases, it’ll be interesting to see if Instagram chooses to release it to all users. Given Instagram’s latest experiments in the main feed, it appears the company is rethinking its long-standing chronological order and display.
Also, considering Instagram’s focus and continued emphasis on video content in 2022 and beyond, could this be a sign that traditional, static content is on its way out on the platform?
