Have you noticed your Facebook organic reach has been declining for a while now? This well-known issue has been fueling rumors suggesting that when you use a third-party application, meaning any tool that helps you schedule out and publish your posts, you get lower reach and engagement. But we’re here to explain why that’s just not true.
The Truth
Facebook does not penalize posts from third-party tools, such as Multibrain. The posts you create and schedule through a third-party app do just as well as the posts you do manually. If it were the case that Facebook was penalizing third-party publishers and apps, Facebook would take action against the application itself by suspending it. Facebook’s Matt Trainer has even stated that posts from third-party tools are NOT penalized.
“…we recently made a fix that added more signals to detect good quality posting behavior. This should improve the situation with the distribution of posts coming from third-party apps in the News Feed.” -Facebook’s Matt Trainer
What Actually is Causing You Limited Reach
There are a variety of things that can get a Facebook account limited or shut down. Posting identical content to multiple groups quickly can signal Facebook to see you as spam. Another thing that can happen, is if you post content that people feel is too promotional or “spammy,” they can report the content you’re posting as spam. These are both things that can cause Facebook to have an issue with you. It’s also important to avoid using your personal profile (rather than a business page) primarily for business – Facebook’s terms explicitly forbid that.
As long as you abide by Facebook’s policies, you should see less problems with your reach, no matter if you are posting manually or through a third-party tool. Leave us some comments if you have any further questions on this topic!
